ABOUT GRAND HARBOUR MARINA
Grand Harbour Marina is a premier waterfront destination located in Lagoon City, Brechin, Ontario — on the beautiful east shore of Lake Simcoe. Under new ownership and management, we are transforming this iconic marina into a destination defined by elevated service, immaculate facilities, and a genuine commitment to excellence in every corner of the property.
A marina of this calibre runs on the skill, reliability, and craftsmanship of the people who maintain it. We are looking for a talented, multi-skilled Marina Handyman who takes real pride in their trade and wants to be part of building something exceptional on the water.
THE ROLE
As Marina Handyman at Grand Harbour Marina, you will be responsible for the day-to-day repair, maintenance, and upkeep of our full property — from marine infrastructure and dock systems to buildings, mechanical systems, and grounds. This is a broad, hands-on role that draws on a wide range of trades knowledge and demands someone who can diagnose a problem, source a solution, and execute the work to a professional standard.
No two days will look the same. One morning you may be repairing a dock electrical pedestal; the afternoon could bring a plumbing fix in the washroom block, a carpentry repair on the dock boardwalk, or a paint job on the harbour building. If you thrive on variety, take pride in quality workmanship, and want to be the person a premium marina relies on to keep everything running at its best — this is your role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plumbing
• Perform repairs and maintenance on all marina plumbing systems including supply lines, drain lines, fixtures, faucets, toilets, shower systems, and water connections
• Diagnose and repair leaks, blockages, pressure issues, and fixture failures across all marina buildings and washroom facilities
• Maintain and service marina water supply infrastructure including seasonal winterization and spring recommissioning of all water systems
• Install and replace plumbing fixtures, valves, hose bibs, and waterside utility connections as required
• Coordinate with licensed contractors for work requiring permits or licensed trades oversight, and assist as directed
• Maintain and service dock water pedestals, supply lines, and marina-side potable water connections throughout the season
Carpentry & Structural Repairs
• Perform carpentry repairs and fabrication across all marina structures including dock boards, dock frames, walkways, boardwalks, railings, gates, and fencing
• Repair and replace damaged or deteriorated wood, composite decking, trim, framing, and structural elements on buildings and docks
• Perform interior carpentry including door and window repairs, casing and trim work, shelving, and general joinery within marina buildings
• Assist with the construction or modification of small structures, storage facilities, signage mounts, and property improvements as directed
• Apply caulking, sealants, and weatherproofing to buildings, dock structures, and exterior woodwork to maintain weathertight conditions
• Sand, prep, prime, and paint interior and exterior surfaces across all marina buildings, structures, and dock infrastructure
Electrical
• Perform basic electrical maintenance and troubleshooting across marina buildings, common areas, and dock infrastructure
• Replace and repair light fixtures, outlets, switches, cover plates, and bulbs across all marina facilities
• Inspect and maintain dock electrical pedestals, power connections, and shore power infrastructure — identifying faults and coordinating licensed electrical repairs as required
• Maintain exterior and dock lighting systems, including seasonal setup, bulb replacement, and fixture repairs
• Identify and report any electrical deficiencies, safety hazards, or code concerns to management and coordinate remediation with licensed electricians as required
• All electrical work requiring a licensed electrician will be referred appropriately — this role is responsible for maintenance-level tasks and first-line diagnosis
General Maintenance & Property Upkeep
• Perform routine preventative maintenance across all marina buildings, mechanical systems, and infrastructure on a scheduled and as-needed basis
• Maintain and service HVAC filters, ventilation systems, water heaters, and basic mechanical equipment across marina facilities
• Repair and maintain door hardware, locks, hinges, closers, and access control systems across the property
• Perform painting, staining, and surface preparation on buildings, docks, fences, and exterior structures as directed
• Assist with the maintenance and minor repair of marina vehicles, carts, trailers, and equipment as required
• Operate pressure washers, compressors, generators, and other power tools safely and in accordance with manufacturer specifications
Dock & Marine Infrastructure
• Assist the Marina Maintenance Specialist with marine infrastructure repairs including dock boards, hardware, cleats, bumpers, gangways, and dock frames
• Perform seasonal dock commissioning and decommissioning tasks including the installation, removal, adjustment, and storage of dock components
• Maintain dock hardware including bolts, fasteners, dock lines, fender brackets, and tie-off points in good working condition
• Identify structural dock issues and communicate findings to management with recommended remediation
Grounds & Exterior
• Assist with grounds maintenance tasks including exterior repairs, fence maintenance, signage, and general property upkeep
• Keep maintenance work areas, tool storage, and workshop spaces clean, organized, and safely maintained at all times
• Manage and maintain an inventory of tools, materials, and supplies — tracking usage and communicating replenishment needs to management
• Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and service records accurately for all tasks performed
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance calls, facility failures, or safety concerns during assigned shift hours
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required
• Proven multi-trade handyman experience with demonstrated skills in plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical maintenance
• Ability to diagnose, plan, and execute repairs independently across a variety of trades and building systems
• Physically capable of sustained manual labour including lifting, climbing, kneeling, and working in confined or awkward spaces
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and in a waterfront marine environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet when facing unfamiliar repair challenges
• Reliable, punctual, self-directed, and professional in both conduct and work quality
• Valid Ontario driver’s licence with a clean driving record
• Possession of a comprehensive set of personal hand and power tools is a strong asset and is preferred

• WHMIS certification or demonstrated willingness to obtain prior to start
• Experience with marine dock systems, waterside electrical infrastructure, or seasonal facility commissioning
• Basic welding, metalwork, or fabrication skills
• Familiarity with pool or mechanical equipment maintenance
