ABOUT GRAND HARBOUR MARINA
Grand Harbour Marina is a premier waterfront destination on the shores of beautiful Lagon City on Lake Simcoe, currently undergoing an exciting transformation under new ownership and management. We are redefining the marina experience through elevated service, upgraded facilities, and an unwavering commitment to excellence — building a destination that members, guests, and visitors are proud to call their home on the water.
We take the same pride in our property as we do in our service. Every building, every dock, every green space reflects the Grand Harbour standard. We’re looking for a skilled, motivated Marina Maintenance Specialist to help us uphold and elevate that standard across our entire property.
THE ROLE
The Marina Maintenance Specialist is a cornerstone of daily operations at Grand Harbour Marina. Responsible for the upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of all structures, equipment, grounds, and yard facilities, this is a hands-on role with real variety and genuine ownership. From performing routine repairs and seasonal maintenance to managing the appearance of our grounds and supporting infrastructure across the property, your work will be seen — and felt — by every member and guest who visits.
This role is ideal for someone who takes quiet pride in doing things right, enjoys working independently, and thrives in an outdoor environment where no two days are exactly the same.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Building & Facility Maintenance
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all marina buildings, structures, and amenities
• Carry out general repairs including carpentry, plumbing, painting, caulking, and hardware replacement
• Inspect facilities regularly and proactively identify issues before they become larger problems
• Maintain washroom and shower buildings — fixtures, hardware, tiling, and general upkeep
• Assist with seasonal opening and closing of facilities, systems, and equipment
• Support the installation or repair of signage, lighting, fencing, and property infrastructure
Dock & Marine Infrastructure
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs on dock boards, cleats, bumpers, finger docks, and hardware
• Inspect dock infrastructure regularly for wear, damage, or safety concerns and report or address as required
• Assist with seasonal dock installation, removal, and storage
• Maintain and repair gangways, ladders, railings, and marine access points
Grounds, Yard & Outdoor Spaces
• Maintain the overall appearance of the marina grounds including grass cutting, trimming, edging, and bed maintenance
• Keep all pathways, parking areas, and outdoor common spaces clear of litter, debris, and obstructions
• Perform yard maintenance tasks including equipment storage areas, boat storage yard, and perimeter grounds
• Assist with snow removal and winter property maintenance as required
• Maintain outdoor fixtures, furniture, planters, and seasonal landscaping features
Pool & Amenity Maintenance
• Perform routine pool maintenance including water testing, chemical balancing, and equipment checks
• Maintain pool deck, equipment room, and surrounding areas to a clean and safe standard
• Monitor pool equipment for operational issues and escalate any service needs to management
Equipment & Asset Care
• Operate and maintain marina vehicles, tools, and grounds equipment safely and responsibly
• Ensure tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies are properly stored and inventoried
• Conduct basic equipment servicing and identify when professional trades or contractors are required
• Assist with the receipt and management of maintenance supplies and materials
Reporting & Safety
• Document completed work, ongoing maintenance needs, and any safety or liability concerns
• Adhere to all WHMIS, health and safety, and marina operational standards at all times
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment in maintenance storage and workshop areas
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance calls or facility issues during shift
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required
• Proven hands-on maintenance, trades, or facilities experience in a commercial, industrial, or hospitality setting
• Strong general repair skills — carpentry, painting, plumbing basics, and hardware installation
• Comfortable operating grounds equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and pressure washers
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing sustained physical work throughout a shift
• Self-directed and able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively with minimal supervision
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and professional in approach
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions throughout the season
Preferred (Not Required — We Will Train the Right Person)
• Experience in a marina, boatyard, resort, or outdoor property maintenance role
• WHMIS certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
• Safe Pool Operator certification or familiarity with pool chemistry and systems
• Basic understanding of marine infrastructure and dock systems
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
